Very soft and true to picture. It ties together a mix of different wood and furniture colors. This rug has a nice thickness compared to a previous shag rug purchased from this store that was about $50 less -- that extra is worth it! I do have an inexpensive rug pad underneath, but not sure it's needed.

The first thing I noticed when I brought this carpet home was that it was asymmetrical - the pattern was not centered. I looked at the photograph of the carpet from the website and it struck me that this was done totally on purpose and rightfully so! If this makes you crazy, don't buy it. But everyone who has seen it in my living room absolutely loves it and loves the texture and feel. I would definitely suggest getting a 3/8\" rug pad to KEEP it feeling as soft and new. Enjoy!
