Beautiful Rug

Love the rug but cannot get it to lie flat and smooth with no humps. Are trying to tape it down and see how that works. Unfortunately if not will be returning it. Any other suggestions. It is laid on my carpet not hardwood floor.

Dirty color when carpet is smoothed in different directions

Carpet is nice, good quality, but maybe it's the under-threads/color- when the carpet is smoothed one way, the design is visible, but when smoothed the opposite way, it has a tan/brownish color that looks like the rug is dirty.
