I don't use mine as a placemat but rather to cover the top of a short pedestal on which I placed a large Halloween decoration. It's so pretty and makes it seem like my decoration is sitting on top of a scattering of multi-colored fall leaves. The colors are amazing and I only regret not buying more of them to use as actual placemats. I went back for more, but they were all sold out.
