This is not really a chalkboard
The surface of this alleged chalkboard does not allow you to easily write on it with chalk. I don't recommend purchasing this item if you really want to use it as a chalkboard.

We love it! Great price as well
We use the chalkboard as an encouragement board and to write little love notes to each other. The only thing we would change about the chalkboard is that we would put a ledge on it or something to hold the chalk.
