We were not able to expand this tension rod and had to return it.

I would have returned it if I'd kept the packaging. Very difficult to install securely. It's not a spring tension rod, so you have to adjust the length to your window and then turn the rod to lock, but one side of the rod slips out from the other very easily. You basically need to have two people if you don't want to try to get it yourself a thousand times. Cheap but not even worth the money.
